COVID-19 PROGRAMMING UPDATES

Indy Film Fest Response

Our organization’s mission is to create a shared experience around film through our annual 10-day film festival, as well as many other events throughout the year. This page is here to keep you up-to-date about how COVID-19 is impacting our festival and year-round programming.

2020 FESTIVAL AND PROGRAMMING

10-DAY FESTIVAL
Our 17th annual film festival was rescheduled from our planned spring dates to mid-August.  We held a safe, socially distanced opening night at Tibbs Drive-In Theater, along with a full 11 days of virtual festival complete with dozens of live Q&As for our 140+ films.
ROVING CINEMA
We suspended our Roving Cinema program early in the year.
CEREAL CINEMA
We, along with our our venue partner Newfields, suspended our Cereal Cinema program early in the year.
BIGGER PICTURE SHOW
The 2020 Bigger Picture Show (presented by our amazing partners Lodge Design) was originally scheduled for late March, and has been postponed until we find a way to present it safely (and funly!). A huge thank you to all of our participating artists!
ROCK + REEL
We, along with our our venue partner White Rabbit, suspended our Rock+Reel program early in the year.
SUNSET CINEMA ON THE CANAL
We, along with our our partner DowntownIndy, Inc., suspended our Sunset Cinema on the Canal program this summer
48 HOUR FILM PROJECT
This year’s Indianapolis 48 Hour Film Project was held in September, with the premiere event also being held at Tibbs Drive-In followed by online screenings.
We have postponed/cancelled all remaining in-person events for 2020.

2021 FESTIVAL AND PROGRAMMING

We continue to monitor the health situation and are working on our plans for 2021 events, including the Bigger Picture Show. Our 18th annual festival is scheduled for April 29 – May 19, and we hope to be able to offer some safe in-person events which we will announce in early 2021. The Indianapolis 48 Hour Film Project will be held in the second half of the year, with announcements to be made around the time of our Spring festival.
