As the summer of 1983 begins, the days of the roller disco are quickly fading and carefree 19-year-old Ritchie’s life seems to be falling apart. His love life is not going well, his family and friends are pressuring his to make decisions and his job is in jeopardy. Standing on the edge of adulthood, Ritchie must decide if he wants to continue his monotonous life in his small East Texas hometown or venture out into the world to be the writer he desperately wants to be. SKATELAND is a nostalgic blast with a close attention to detail from the hairstyles to the classic rock, but it is not just a “retro” period piece. Burns has created a sincere and universal story about the last years of adolescence.
See SKATELAND and take your $25 admission stub on down to Creation Cafe on the Canal. We’ll have 80s music, a great view and plenty of FREE drinks and appetizers while we skate the night away. You’ll also be among the first to celebrate the winners of the 2010 Indy Film Fest.
